Finding how to show more pages or posts in the ‘all pages’ or ‘all posts’ view in the WordPress back end turns out to be a lot easier than I imagined.
I admit to having been frustrated by scrolling through multiple pages of pages, looking for the one I wanted to change.
By default WordPress will only show 20 pages at a time when you list all pages. It turns out that this setting is really easy to change to something more useful if you have a lot of pages.
At the top right hand side of the screen when looking at all pages or all posts you will see a Screen Options button.
Clicking this will show you the screen options for the type of screen you are on.
In this case the ‘all pages’ screen. Simply change the number of pages to Show on screen and click the Apply button.
It is good practice to check out the screen options on any screen that you are using, In many cases there may be options that are displayed on the screen that you never use and you can hide them to make your working day easier. There are also times when options you want are not shown (like the check box for leaving comments and track-backs) which you may want to enable.
It’s easy to get into a pattern and just assume we know what is on a screen 0r that the way we do things is the only way possible. Every now and again, take the time to stop and look around, it may make your life a lot easier in many little ways.
So here’s to an easier life (or at least one with less pagination on WordPress back end screens).
