“What on earth does that mean?”, I hear you asking.
It is a way of helping us to avoid procrastination and actually deliver more energy into our day. We all have those little things that we know we should do but just don’t want to do – well if we do these things first in our day (they are the frog), then the rest of the day will always be better.
Do the worst thing on your to-do list first and it will be done. Then you can relax and enjoy the rest of the day.
Otherwise we just put those things off, and put them off, and then it’s the rest of the day gone – and they are still there (and we didn’t really get to enjoy anything fully). That’s the problem with these frogs, they are still there the next morning.
Here’s a cute video that outlines this beautifully http://www.eatthatfrogmovie.com/ and has another great quote “there’s nothing so fatiguing as an uncompleted task”.
So what are you procrastinating about? Is it writing that blog, getting that twitter message out there, or updating your web strategy? Some people seem to have no problem with the things that we struggle with. Perhaps they have a good French Chef that knows just what to do with frogs? I suppose that’s another approach – if you don’t like your “frog” then find someone who loves them and get them to help out!
So what’s your frog? Here’s to giving it a twist and it becoming a delicacy!
